Traffic Commissioner Covid-19 response

Senior Traffic Commissioner issues Contingency and Emergency Planning document, giving guidance on application of regulations relating to operator licencing. . This comes in response to increasingly difficult situation for the people and business following outbreak of coronavirus related disease Covid-19. The document gives guidance on measures that traffic commissioners may take to reduce the impact of the outbreak of the disease on operators.

The measures that traffic commissioners may take include:

- periods of grace relating to proof financial standing required to hold oprator's licence

-temporary exemptions from holding operator's licence

-use of alternative operating centre

"Traffic commissioners are expected to give serious consideration to the grant of a Period of Grace to those standard operators who require it. In exercising their discretion, a traffic commissioner will include those factors whilst ensuring road safety."
